Kotahitanga Unity concert

Paeroa is preparing to put on party to celebrate Kotahitanga,

Kotahitanga is an all day, outdoor summer concert taking place on Auckland s anniversary weekend

 SAT JAN 29 2011 at the Paeroa Racecourse

The local Marae Tirohia, Te Pai o Hauraki, Taharua,Te Iti o Hauraki,and Ngahutoitoi  collaborate to present the extraordinary musical talents of Ardijah 1814,  Pitch Black Whirimako, Moana, Dam Native,Mihirangi, Foundation, Native Sons,Chantdown. Nin n jah DJ phaze and much more.

Aunty Mabel, and Lana Garland will be the mistresses of ceremonies for the day, getting  things started with a mihi whakatau   and kapa haka by the local Whanau.The opening performance by  Paeroas' very own  rock,reggae fusion band Ni-n-Jah

Maori arts crafts and fashion will be on sale to add to the festive feel of the concert  and a selection of local delicacies, including whitebait, Kutai, raw fish, tuna, boil up and rewana bread to tempt those tastebuds, prepared and served by marae whanau

Educational displays from Hauora and Te Taiao will provide information on-site to encourage hinengaro and the wairua well-being while demonstrations and korero about waka, weaving and Taa moko take place for on-lookers to gain a first hand view of these traditional art forms and taonga in action.

Throughout the day an Art exhibition from invited artists pertaining to the theme of Kotahitanga will also be on show. And korero from Kotahitanga pioneers Angeline Greensil will take place on stage.

concert goers are welcome to camp overnight, providing a rest-stop  after the days fun and excitement  and you won't need to worry about driving home.

Kotahitanga promises to be an event that sends a message of unity around the motu.
