My contemporary experience is more complex. The diptych expresses the duality in my mind between east and west, mind and matter, and my experience of cultural hybridity living in New Zealand. The subject has become more a gesture of mind. Some of these forms subconsciously reflected my struggle to live in my dualities, the tension of being between cultures.
