Radio New Zealand's role is to promote and protect our unique cultural voice.
To show how they capture this voice, they've created ten model radios, woven from the fabric of New Zealand life. Three more winning designs by members of the public were created last year and exhibited at Te Papa.
2011 is the anniversary of 100 years of radio in New Zealand and to mark this, Radio New Zealand is asking Kiwis to create a design for a radio that captures any aspect of New Zealand culture from the last 100 years.
The winning design will be made into a radio model and exhibited at Auckland Art Gallery along with the 13 other New Zealand radios created by Weta Workshop.

History, heritage and culture are brought to life at Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki. Founded in 1888, it remains New Zealand’s largest visual arts experience, with a collection numbering over 15,000 works. The main gallery building is now open after a comprehensive heritage restoration and expansion.
Explore a treasure trove of historic, modern and contemporary New Zealand art, as well as work by Māori and Pacific Island artists. International painting, sculpture and print collections range from 1376 to the present day.
