The Sole Project: The Exhibition 2011
The Sole Project: The exhibition
Nga Rangatahi Toa Creative Arts Initiative
Featuring: rangatahi-youth artists from South Auckland Alternative Education, artist-mentors Louise Hyatt, Rongotai Lomas, Josh Paki, Nathan Suniula, Tamihana Robin, Shona Tawhiao Andy Tolhurst, and more.
This powerful exhibition is the result of a collaboration between rangatahi in alternative education and practicing artists committed to using their skills to mentor youth. The 10 rangatahi and artist-mentor partnerships use photography, aerosol art, animation, nga toi Maori and abstract painting to give voice to those who are not always heard, and show the world through the eyes of those who are not always seen.
The Sole Project: The Exhibition is part the Nga Rangatahi Toa Creative Arts Initiative 2011 arts programme, providing transformational life experiences for rangatahi through one-to-one mentoring in creative arts.
Meet the collaborators on Saturday 30 July at 12pm as they talk about their creative partnerships and give you a tour of their artworks.
