Multi Platform Storytelling Workshop with Gary Hayes

(2hrs presentation q/a, 1 hr team development & mentoring & 1 hr presentation & feedback plus 2 20 min breaks)

$60 Regular and $40 Students

WORKSHOP:
A half-day workshop that firstly introduces the landscape of key transmedia content areas, story/service user centric design and production methodology.  In the second part of the workshop teams will utilize this knowledge with worksheets and to a given industry brief develop a cross media proposition that targets specified goals, user requirements, story challenges & ROI (return on investment).

The workshop will challenge and expose participants in techniques to develop quality transmedia services. Teams will also briefly present their treatments to all attendees with reference to platforms, timescales, story worlds and business models. Basic definitions and terminology will also be covered.

Areas covered in the transmedia landscaping section include:
•    Social Media Storytelling & Two Way Web
•    Alternate Reality Game & Digital Marketing
•    Augmented Reality and Pervasive Locative Games
•    Serious Games & Online Documentary
•    Social Television & Mixed Media
•    Social Virtual Worlds
•    Massively Multi Player and other Game Development
•    Monitoring & Measuring the Web
•    Multi Platform Production Tools and Processes
•    The Transmedia Bible Introduction
•    Transmedia Bible Project Management
•    User Needs & Audience Targeting

By the end of the short workshop attendees will:
•    Have presented a complex transmedia project
•    Planned a transmedia campaign
•    Understand the multi platform landscape
•    Be aware of new trends and opportunities in cross media
•    Know how to develop services using simple strategies
•    Clearly match story requirements, needs of users and technical  capabilities
•    Have a basic understanding of transmedia business models

Gary Hayes

Gary is an award winning multi-platform producer, author, educator and runs MUVEDesign.com  and founded in 2010 the global StoryLabs.us aimed at transmedia & innovative digital story-telling. Recently becoming a Distinguished Talent permanent resident in Australia his company MUVEDesign.com creates virtual worlds, augmented and alternate reality services for companies including Telstra, ABC TV, Accenture & advertising and education sectors. He founded the Innovation Training Unit LAMP.edu.au in 2005 and for 8 years previously was the Senior Development Producer at UK BBC New Media, pioneering broadband internet, interactive TV and emerging. He runs personalizemedia.com  an AdAge Power150 global media-marketing blog and has been an International Interactive Emmy juror for the past few years.

Requirements: Participants are encouraged to bring their own laptops and have either powerpoint or Keynote installed for use during the workshop. Please come with a story idea you would like to take across transmedia domains.
