Towards an Auckland Arts Advisory Group workshop 2
Dear colleagues
A lot has happened since we were last in touch regarding the second workshop ‘Towards an Auckland Arts Advisory Group’. Most, if not all, of us will have family, friends and colleagues that have been caught up in the February 22 earthquake in Christchurch, and we are now only beginning to realise the multiple effects of that terrible event on our people and country.
Thank you for your patience as we have worked towards a new date and venue for the next workshop, and for the many offers of help and suggestions to find a suitable venue. Craig Cooper and the team at The Edge have graciously made available the Upper NZ Room in the Aotea Centre, so the workshop date is now confirmed as Monday 21 March, 1 to 4 pm, Upper NZI Room at the Aotea Centre, THE EDGE.
We invite you to the second of these sessions (with The Big Idea Assist’s Elisabeth Vaneveld facilitating)
We ask you now to do three things:
· Firstly, let us know if you are coming by return email to: maggie@artistsalliance.org.nz
· Secondly, forward this email to key people in your network who you think should be there. We have a growing email database but we know it is not exhaustive.
· Thirdly, the workshop will be a busy working session and we won’t have much time to recap on past findings and feedback, so please read the notes from the previous workshop (attached), especially if you were unable to come to that workshop.
Warm regards
The organising group for ‘Towards an Auckland Arts Advisory Group’ workshop series:
Anne Rodda, Candy Elsmore, James McCarthy, Elise Sterbeck, Maggie Gresson
Upper NZI Room at the Aotea Centre, THE EDGE.

Member Profile
- Creative Coalition
In the transition to the new Auckland governance, the creation of an Auckland Arts & Culture Advisory Group by Auckland’s arts and culture sector was strongly recommended by members of the ATA. (The sports and recreation sector have undertaken this type of regional strategy development some time ago.)
After three workshops attended by members of the local creative sector across 2010-2011, Creative Coalition was born. We now continue to act as a conduit between council (and other bodies) and the Auckland creative sector, championing the arts and creative expression in Auckland.
