Publicity for Dance

Communicating your project and brand to your audience through media coverage is a key factor when promoting a dance show, event or project.  What are you promoting and to whom, how do you write a good press release, who are the media, and what can you do to get their attention?

Rachel Lorimer, is an experienced publicist who has publicised many dance events including Michael Parmenter's TENT, The Limbs retro.spective, and the Auckland Season of Douglas Wright's Inland.  Rachel also managed the publicity for the recent Auckland Arts Festival.

This practical seminar will cover:

  • How to decide on your publicity strategy
  • What preparation you need to do (including press materials and images)
  • How to execute your strategy with particular focus on how the media operate, and the timelines to which they work
