Funding needed for Wanganui Sculpture
Hello Artists, Art Organizations, Galleries and Patrons of the Arts
Funds are being sought for the public sculpture "From the Mountain to the Sea" which was created by myself, Mikel Durel Browne, Kerry MacDonnell and Max Cody in 2010 for the Wanganui District Council Sculpture Event. As part of the Contract Agreement We Artists and the Council are to organize funding for purchase of this sculpture. Please help us to keep this sculpture on the banks of the Whanganui River.

Gold donations of $5000+ will receive a small sculpture made from the offcuts of "From the Mountains to the Sea"
Silver donations of $2000-$5000 will receive a framed print of "From the Mountains to the Sea"
Bronze donations will be publicly acknowledge during a special event.

Mikel Durel BrowneI have been practicing art since going to Art School in Wanganui, New Zealand in 1995. Where I majored in ceramics and graduating in 2000. Due to studio restraints I moved away from ceramics when moving to Auckland and pursued painting which is in my blood due to a mother and great grand father who had the passion also. Over the past nine years I have revisited the realm of 3D thinking and I am finding much delight in creating these sculptures. Among my disciplines are painting landscapes and abstractions in oils and acrylics. Sculpture using found materials, wood, stone, clay and steel. Digital photography and even digital video. I draw my ideas from my surroundings, with much of my work deals with social and ecological issues. These are either portrait as conceptual or stylized in a literal way.
I have recently arrived back from a 10 month stint teaching and traveling the UK and Europe. A step back to my roots has been an inspiring experience. Here for the last 10 months I have developed my skills in digital photography. Much of the art form can be seen on my web site.
