Settlers Film Club "Trouble is My Business"
TROUBLE IS MY BUSINESS (PG*) is a feature film by first time documentary director Juliette Veber who spent a year at Auckland high school Aorere College capturing the trials, successes and failures of the students as they struggled to cope in the NZ school system. She filmed everyday for six months developing a remarkably close rapport with Mr Peach, the students and their families. The kids aren’t afraid of Juliette or her camera and they lay bare their lives for the film. Veber focuses her compassionate and unwavering gaze on charismatic Mr Peach and through him she provides a shocking, intense but often humorous insight into the lives of the students and the social, family and cultural challenges preventing them from getting successfully through high school and into some sort of future they can take a real pride in. (* contains some bad language and drug references)
