As Far As Eye Can See
Twenty two Adelaide woman have helped use crochet to bring attention to post earthquake Christchurch. The woman have produced over 500 hand crocheted squares using 182,784 stitches to create the pixelated artwork As Far As Eye Can See. The event will be run by Christchurch based Gap Filler and the artwork will help raise money for the Gap Filler initiative.
Local artist Briar Cook has also been commissioned by Gap Filler to create a companion artwork with help from the community, which will also be on display. The result is a group of small objects woven from materials commonly seen during the rebuilding of christchurch, tarpaulins, high visibility fabrics and industrial workwear.
opening night is wednesday 9th november 2011 at the Colombo corner of Colombo and Elgin streets, Sydenham. Starting at 530pm - 730pm and will run until 30th November

I am passionate about making creative projects happen. I am a strong facilitator and people person. I have managed a public gallery and helped to evitalise the Artist in Residence programme at the Arts Centre in Christchurch prior to its cancellation post earthquake. I am a member of the Free Theatre Christchurch ensemble and have performed and toured regularly over the last 4 years.
