Children's Spring Holiday Classes at CEAC
Let your child stretch their creative wings over an exciting 2 weeks jam-packed with classes that are both educational and fun! Children work in a studio setting and enjoy developing unique skills in a safe environment. Classes are from 10am – 2.30pm and are either one or two days long. The course fee includes materials. Students need to bring their lunch and an old shirt to protect their clothes.

COLLAGE THE HUNGRY CATERPILLAR (5 - 12 YRS)

The much loved book The Very Hungry Caterpillar is our inspiration for this class. Eric Carle's art is distinctive, colourful and bright. We will start by exploring the colour wheel and then hand paint and decorate different papers using Eric's techniques. Students will make a collage illustration using their papers of The Very Hungry Caterpillar, who eats its way through books!
FULL MOON GATHERING (7 – 12 YRS)

Night time, not everybody is asleep! This class is about making clay sculptures of creatures of the night, such as kiwis, bats and moreporks. In a playful and informative way children will hand build their animals while learning clay techniques and processes.
PORTRAITS IN PATTERNS (7 – 14 YRS)

Students will learn the art of drawing a detailed self-portrait and then surround their portraits with painted patterns inspired by Gustav Klimt. This will be a delightful workshop for keen drawers and painters.
SNUGGLE UP (5 – 10 YRS)

Come along to this clay class and make a dog with her fluffy puppies snuggled up on a blanket or a polar bear with its young ones in an ice den. Choose your favourite animals and enjoy shaping the soft material with your hands!
STRANGE CONSTRUCTIONS (7 – 14 YRS)

Save the planet by recycling materials that were destined for the great dump burial ground. Turn assorted materials into anything you can think of; robots, dogs, rockets, ray guns, wearable art, even vortex manipulators.
BIRDS OF A FEATHER FLOCK TOGETHER (6 – 12 YRS)

Create a mosaic picture of your favourite feathered friend. Who will it be? kokako, kea or maybe the noisy cockatoo! Over 2 days students will create a drawing of their bird, then bring it to life as a beautiful mosaic tile.
FLY SKY HIGH (6 – 10 YRS)

Our inspiration for this creative clay class is all beings in the sky! You can choose to model a flock of migrating birds, Spiderman, yourself riding a flying dragon or whatever your imagination chooses! Children will be guided through clay sculpting techniques to turn their ideas into unique wall sculptures.
JUNGLE FEVER (5 – 10 YRS)

Using MDF board as the canvas and a variety of materials, students will create a bright and colourful ‘painting’. Inspired by the vibrant jungle paintings of Haitian artist Gabriel Alix, children will use paint, ink and collage to bring to life their favourite wild jungle animals and plants. Beware this art work may bite!
WILD THINGS DIORAMA (7 – 14 YRS)

Create your own magical world of Where the Wild Things Are. Using a shoe box, some mixed media materials, watercolours and a huge dose of Maurice Sendak's inspirational, yellow-eyed, terrible clawed Wild Things; you will create a diorama depicting your favourite scene from this much loved story. Maybe there is a place for you in this Wild World.
FABRIC FUN: ARTY FLAGS AND BUNTINGS CELEBRATING SUMMER (7 – 14 YRS)

Come and create your own set of colourful arty flags that capture what we love about summer. Have fun with fabric painting, drawing on fabric and embellishing your flags with shells, beads, colourful threads and interesting objects.

THIS IS ME..... (7 - 14 YRS)

Tuesdays: 1 Nov – 6 Dec: 3.45pm – 5.15pm (6 weeks)

Create a life-size 3D self-portrait with a difference! Inspired by the work of Indian Avant-garde Artist/Sculptor C. Jagdish, students will learn the art of paper sculpting by creating an armature of themselves. Other techniques such as drawing, modelling and painting and surface decoration will also be explored.
TWO BEST FRIENDS (5 - 10 YRS)
TUTOR: KAIRAVA GULLATZ
Thursdays: 3 Nov – 8 Dec: 4pm – 5.30pm (6 weeks)
Fee: $55
Choose two characters from a story, like Harry Potter and Ron Weasley, or two best friends from your own life and shape these from clay. You will be taught how to make figures and animals from the soft material and how to decorate them with colourful slips.
KIWIANA ART (6 – 12 YRS)

Saturdays: 5 Nov – 10 Dec: 10am – 11.30am (6 weeks)

Let’s celebrate being ‘proudly kiwi’! Students can interpret the theme in many different ways, from art that illustrates a personal or cultural identity, to art that makes a comment on kiwi culture. It might include looking at buzzy bees, jandals, kiwis, surfing or any other symbols and objects unique to our life style in New Zealand. Using drawing, painting and collage, students will work on a wood panel in the shape of a NZ map to create their own piece of art.

The Corban Estate Arts Centre (CEAC)
It is located at the historic Corban Winery Estate in Henderson, Waitakere City. The Arts Centre utilizes the historic winery buildings and is home to galleries which feature a changing programme of Exhibitions, a Gallery Shop, and Artist's Studios.
CEAC also offers a wide range of arts and cultural events and programmes including: Adult's Art Classes, Children's Art Classes and a Schools Education Programme.
