After what seems an eternity (given the shake of September caused us to cancel the 2010 festival) we’re back with our 10th Body Festival of Dance and Physical Theatre and our biggest to date.

80+ workshops and over 20 performances along with an arts celebration in the park as part of the Real New Zealand festival during Rugby World Cup, Body 2011 promises to warm the hearts and get the feet tapping for all of Christchurch as we Spring into dance.

Southern Lights Dance Company are back with the programme they were due to perform last year and in addition we have performances from some of New Zealand’s leading dance artists including Carol Brown, Louise Potiki Bryant, Ann Dewey, Bipeds, Jolt Dance, Maria Dabrowska and many more.

Our workshop programme sees two new relationships forged with the Heart Foundation and the Mental Health Foundation and we broaden our community participation outreach to include Selwyn district with programmes in Rolleston and Lincoln joining our, as always, comprehensive range of have a go workshops throughout the city.

In a year that has seen much change in our wonderful city we are delighted to be able to bring you this programme utilising many new venues including parks, school theatres and community centres and hope that you will take this opportunity to join us in a wonderful set of social occasions as we celebrate all things dance and get this city back on its feet with The Body 2011.
