Ceramicus11 - Wellington Potters’ Association’s 53rd annual exhibitionAcademy Galleries, Queens Wharf, Wellington3 - 11 September 2011Guest Artist Kate Fitzharris.Kate FitzharrisCeramic artist Kate Fitzharris uses her sculptural installations to express her observations of domestic life. Usually comprising fired clay and recycled fibre, her wall-mounted installations have a fragile and vulnerable appearance, offset by their character of playfulness and whimsy. Fitzharris' work continues to develop along new ideas embracing a darker edge to these intimate creatures. Since graduating from the Otago Polytechnic School of Art Fitzharris has earned a strong reputation as an original and accomplished ceramicist. She graduated Bachelor of Fine Arts – Ceramics, Otago Polytechnic School of Art in 1996 and has won awards at the New Zealand Potter's Association exhibition held at the Christchurch Art Gallery in 2008, at Waiclay in Hamilton 2006 and at The Portage Ceramics Exhibition 2002. This is her first show in Wellington and she exhibits in Wellington by arrangement with AVID Gallery.
