A touching, bitter-sweet look at life in the 60s.
They scooped the Chapman Trip Theatre Awards in 2007 with Home Land - Outstanding New NZ Play, Best Production, Best Director. Now this award-winning team, playwright Gary Henderson and director Jane Waddell, presents Peninsula.
Set within the moody landscape of its title, this engrossing, beautifully crafted play weaves a story in and around the everyday lives of a small town community on Banks Peninsula.
Michael Hope is ten years old and sleeps on a volcano. This is his playground, his paradise. But tremors begin to shake his idyll as rumblings in the adult world encroach on Michael’s life, erupting and throwing his universe into a chaos that will change him forever. Peninsula provides a richly emotional journey amid childhood games and adventures, and adult issues and events.
