Whangarei Sculpture Symposium
Spread the word and invite everyone and all to this amazing event during the 10 days of 24 artists working in wood and stone:
The Whangarei Sculpture Symposium is a unique event held in Northland for the second time. Currently there is no similar event in Northland which the public can visit to observe art being created. This particular symposium will incorporate a theme which the artists are encouraged to portray in their work. For 2012 the artists are invited to create a form that relates to important local influences. These can be physical, natural or historical influences which inspire the design of the sculpture.
At the end of the symposium one piece will be selected; the designer will be awarded a cash prize of $5,000 and the sculpture piece will be installed in a public space within the Whangarei District.
The symposium will be held for 10 days (8-18 February 2012). On the final day there will be a closing and award ceremony which will include music food and celebration.
Art Auction: 18 February, 1pm
