Criteria for painting and drawing

Awards are given for painting and drawing in any medium on a surface suitable for wall display. The work (or works) must be the original creation of the artist entering and must comply with NZ copyright laws. All works to be created after February 2011 and the longest side of each work must not exceed 1500mm. Entered works must not have been exhibited in a public exhibition prior to this exhibition.

The exhibition runs in conjunction with Summer Arts events in Whakatane. This year the Molly Morpeth Canaday Award events in the venue include -  Floor talks on the award exhibition, an arts debate  and 'Art Appreciation' evening.  Story telling, dance, art house film and writer/illustrator talk   Invited guest exhibitions with a focus on Coromandel artists. Plus an arts education focus with a schools display and Whitecliffe College of Arts and Design featuring students work.
