The Whangaroa Community Music tuition programme that to date has mainly been operating from premises generously made available by Whangaroa College, has now been formally instituted as Whakaaro Tahi Community Trust. Since its establishment over four years ago, the programme has proved to be a very valuable community asset and of particular benefit to Whangaroa youth and Whangaroa College students, helping them develop team participation skills and generally increasing social engagement through their shared interest in music.
We have been overwhelmed by the support of the community in general, and Whangaroa College in particular, that has not only helped in establishing the programme and making consistent delivery of it possible but has also helped make it a sustainable success story of which all Whangaroa residents can be proud.
