Motion 09 - Music, Art & Film Festival

Motion Arts announces the first annual Motion Festival, to be held at the TAPAC Performing Arts Centre in Auckland the weekend of June 12-13 2009.

Motion Festival will showcase artistic talent from New Zealand and around the world, encompassing not just one, but many different artistic mediums. The 2 day event will feature live music from Auckland’s’ best up and coming acts, an art competition featuring paintings, photography and sculpture from the very best of our emerging talent and short film screenings from the finalists of the Red Bull Reel Life competition.

The event is driven by the need to create a platform for up and coming artists to bring their many artistic talents, no matter what the medium, to the global stage.

Event facilitator and Manager Abby Pye explains, “There is a real lack of events out there like this that are less about making a profit, and more about actually assisting these artists to get their careers off the ground. We wanted to create something that would allow them to do that”.

Abby also says that 100% of the profits for artwork sold at the event will go straight to the artists. “As an artist myself, I understand the importance of any additional assistance in the early stages of your career”.

Tickets for the event are now on sale, at a cost of only $20 for the 2 days. Tickets are available through Real Groovy, or via the Motion website at www.motionarts.co.nz

If you have any additional questions, or would more information on the event, please email Abby Pye at abby@motionarts.co.nz
