A 'knit in public' session with the Knitterati

Te Tuhi is inviting keen knitter’s in the community to escape the cold and come inside for a relaxed knit and chat session with the now ‘famous’ Knitterati Group.

The Knitterati are the Domestic Craft and Contemporary Art Group from Ponsonby’s Artstation.   Teaching, enjoying and sharing the craft of knitting is central to the Knitterati's aims.

Over the past year, the Knitterati have been meeting up for ‘public knitting sessions’ in homes, libraries, cafes and community centre’s.  Teaching, enjoying and sharing the craft of knitting is central to the Knitterati's aims. Wherever they go, the group attract a crowd of enthusiastic knitters and inspired onlookers.

This year the Knitterati are busy preparing for their next exhibition at Art Station.  The exhibition titled "House-to-house" will turn the gallery into a domestic community with houses created in a multitude of materials to express the idea of unity in diversity. The group are inviting artists/craftspeople to contribute houses using the materials of their choice. So, if knitters have a house tea-cosie or anything which suits the knitted 'house' theme, they are encouraged to bring them along! As well as any current knitting projects, ideas and knitting accessories.

PLUS help keep warm, the Te Tuhi Café is offering every ‘knitter’ a 1/2 price coffee.
