Vector Wellington Orchestra General Manager steps down
Vector Wellington Orchestra Board Announcement
Christine Pearce, one of New Zealand’s most experienced arts administrators and long-serving General Manager of the Vector Wellington Orchestra (Wellington Regional Orchestra Foundation), is leaving the orchestra on 25 September 2009.
She has been with the Orchestra for a decade, first as an administrator and for the last eight years as its General Manager.
During Christine’s tenure, the Orchestra has been positioned as one of New Zealand’s leading arts organisations, with a strong regional community profile and with high artistic standards.
“The exciting achievements of the Vector Wellington Orchestra over the past decade are a tribute to Christine’s commitment to the organisation and its community. Christine leaves with every good wish from the Board for the future,” said Vector Wellington Orchestra Board chairman Phillip Meyer.
Over the past eight years, audiences have grown from 40,000 to 100,000. Christine introduced the highly successful Government House open air concerts, Circus Proms, Baby Pops and the popular subscription series of concerts, this year playing to a full house at the most recent concert.
The Board will be undertaking recruitment for the General Manager role to ensure the orchestra maintains the strong artistic standards and profile that Christine and Music Director Marc Taddei have achieved.
