The Travellers Box | New Zealand
The Travellers Box project is an artistic discourse where the box is used as the trajectory / mediating object. Artists who receive the box are encouraged to interpret the project in a way that suits and compliments their practice. The only stipulation is that the artist(s) must incorporate the box as a feature in any artwork or documentation produced. How this is done is entirely up to the artist, but the box must somehow be a visible part of the work.
Originated in Denmark, the boxes have travelled to several countries since 2004, including the UK, USA, Germany, Sweden, Norway and NZ, where a series of artists have taken part in the project. One of the objectives is to expand on this growing international network, via artists working directly with the box and by connecting with others also involved in the project, both in their own and in other countries.
Artist(s) can work with the box from 1 week to 3 months.

- James R Ford
James R Ford is a British artist whose practice is engaged with pastimes, pursuits and obsessions. Ford delves into the activities and influences of his childhood as a way of both embarking and staying put. Exploring notions of repetition, boredom and idiocy with a sense of humour and pathos. His body of work consists of projects and investigations based around observations, process and play: ranging from inventing a new home based sport, to covering a Ford Capri in over 4,000 toy cars, to spending countless hours scribbling loops.
