Kiwi in top 10 of international surf film competition

Kiwi surfer Luke Cederman has made it to the top 10 in this round of Innersections, Taylor Steeles online global surf competition. The section, filmed and edited by Damon Meade, is the only NZ entry in an international field. Between now and 6pm Monday 24th May Luke desperately needs all the kiwi votes he can get, simply sign in and arrange the sections in order of 1 to 10, with Luke at number 1 of course! They are currently battling it out for a top 5 finish which will secure a place on Taylor Steeles next high performance surf film - being a first for a kiwi. Any help would be appreciated as it would be awesome to get Luke in there amongst the other international entries.

One of the best edited sections. Good build, angles, matching song, etc. Even good last shot with setting sun in silhouette. But do you go right? I prefer rights. Machado would love this section

Does not get around to going right too much, not really bothering me though. this guy is super smooth and fast. this is my favorite underdog section. that 2nd turn around 00:39 is sooo smooth. Posted: 05/10/2010

For pure surfing this is up there with the best.hope its judged accordingly as his surfing sh#ts all over some of the others who have bigger budgets, HD's and coin for travel.good luck Posted: 05/10/2010

Competition details:

This is a platform for creating a surf movie. It's also a competition in which YOU are the judge.

For this contest, surfers (working with filmmakers and editors) create their own 2-3 minute surf movie.

Innersection Members (that's you) judge these sections to determine which ones become part of the next Taylor Steele high-performance surf movie.

The competition runs in four seasonal Rounds (every two months, starting March 1st). Each Round qualifies five new surfers for the final DVD — releasing December 2010.

Rounds run in three week-long phases:

1st WEEK: competitors upload sections to the site. No voting.

2nd WEEK: Members rate each section on a 1-10 scale. This narrows the field down to the 10 best sections.

3rd WEEK: Members rank sections 1 thru 10.

After that, we announce the five sections that qualified for the movie.

These winners have the rest of the year to improve their section for the final Innersection DVD.

Twenty sections will be on the final DVD. You select the best one to win US$100,000.
