Common Bliss
Aucklanders are being given the chance to have their ideas on the Afterlife immortalized as artworks and then postered around Auckland city streets!
Artist Pritika Lal is taking art to the people of Auckland for her new year long Street Poster Exhibition titled 'Common Bliss.'
The project focuses on the concept of traveling to and from the afterlife. The idea came to Pritika after traveling to various countries and experiencing the different belief systems and ideals of other cultures. On her return home, she became curious about the beliefs of her own people and through this project begins an exploration of the similarities and differences that reside in Aucklanders.
Pritika is seeking feedback from Aucklander's on their ideas of what the afterlife would look like and what they would do when they got there. This feedback is then turned into original artworks that are put up all around Auckland as street posters.
The artworks will be released every month over a yearlong period. The first poster release: Monday 27th September - Sunday10th October 2010.
Ideas are being received now online at http://www.commonbliss.com
Sponsored by Resene, Faber Castell, BFM, North Shore City Council and Manukau City Creative Communities.
