NZ Improv Festival 2010

The third annual NZ Improv Festival was held in Wellington October 2010 where teams from Auckland (ConArtists), Christchurch (Court Jesters), and Wellington (WIT & The Improvisors) were joined by international acts -  Crumbs from Canada and Rebecca De Unamuno (Sydney).

Over an entertaining week our best improvisational minds exploded onto the BATS Theatre stage, spilling out into the Fringe Bar for Late Night Jams!

On closing night Awards were given to acknowledge greatness . . .

The 'Lightbulb' Award for Best Concept
An award to distinguish the show that encapsulates the idea of forward thinking and redefining improv theatre

The Fresh FIlms 'Hands' Award
The show that best demonstrates a company working together as a whole
WINNER:
The Court Jesters - Death at Murder Manor

The Southern Cross Bar 'LOL' Award
For funniest show
WINNER:
Crumbs (Stephen Sim and Lee White)

The 'Grounded Hog' Award
The company or individual who demonstrates focus and dedication in story and character above and beyond
WINNER:
Rebecca De Unamuno

The Teza 'NOW!' Award
The best use of audience suggestion
WINNER:
Greg Ellis - Holmes Alone

The 'Golden Bulb'
Encapsulates the spirit of the festival and the tenants of improvisation; support, inspiration, joy
WINNER:
NZIF LP's - The Long Play Shows

The NZ Improv Festival will be back in 2011 – bigger, edgier, funnier, and ready to attack Wellington with awesome!
