New combined screen industry group formed
Recently a meeting was held between the screen industry guilds, organisations and unions resulting in the formation of a new combined industry group entitled “Screen Industry New Zealand” (SINZ).
The new group comprises New Zealand Film and Video Technicians’ Guild (NZFVTG), New Zealand Writers Guild (NZWG), Nga Aho Whakaari (NAW), NZ Actors Equity (NZ Equity), Screen Directors Guild of New Zealand (SDGNZ), Screen Production and Development Association (SPADA) and Women in Film and Television (WIFT).
The combined member organisations represent a range of screen industry disciplines including actors, directors, editors, producers, technicians and writers.
After reaching agreement in principle on a variety of industry issues, the goal of SINZ is to work productively and proactively in the interests of the screen industry and those working in it.
SINZ’s intention is to enhance and support the growth of the New Zealand screen industry by working with Government, cultural and funding agencies to communicate its thoughts and ideas in relation to key industry issues.

The Screen Directors Guild of New Zealand (SDGNZ)
An organisation that creates a forum where directors and editors can define, defend and further their professional industry. Directors and editors have a responsibility to shape and influence the collective environment they work in. It is the Guild's role to help screen directors and editors work more effectively in the New Zealand Film and Television industry.
Through the promotion and advancement of New Zealand feature film and TV production, the SDGNZ strives to develop the professional incentives that are needed to encourage talented people to stretch their skills, exploit their gifts to the full and encourage others to follow.
