are coming to Auckland

It’s all about Poetry over the next couple of months and Printable Reality is getting in to the poetry spirit with a “slammin” new event aimed at bridging the gap between the world of poetics and its social awareness in NZ.
“Directional Poetics” is a new initiative from Printable Reality where international prose and the poetically malnourished literary artists of NZ collide for an evening of award-winning poetry, international networking and creative intensity.
The first “D.P.” event will be held on August 21st ,6pm at The Library Bar featuring poets, for the 1st time in NZ, all the way from the U.S.A.

Kenneth Arkind

National Poetry Slam Champion, Nuyorican Poets Cafe Grand Slam Champion and full time touring artist who has performed his work in 48 states, Hawaii, Canada and at over 200 colleges and universities.
He has been featured on HBO, CBS, NBC and Borders Books Open Door Poetry series alongside former U.S. Poet Laureate Billy Collins.
A regular fixture in the Denver, Colarado music scene, he has opened for acts like Ani Difranco and is the only poet signed to Hot Congress Records.
His work has been published in numerous literary anthologies and journals across America and the University of Washington's 2010 Common Book “You Are Never Where You Are” alongside Pulitzer Prize Winners Yusef omunyaka and Philip Levine.
His first collection of poetry "I know why Georgia Turner waited by the train tracks" will be available summer of 2011 from Penmanship Books.
Carrie Rudzinski

Named “Best Female Poet” and “Best Of The Rest” at the 2008 College Unions Poetry Slam Invitational (CUPSI), Carrie ranked 14th in the world at the Women Of The World Poetry Slam in Columbus Ohio this year.
Carrie is a founding member of the beloved Gringo Choir, a Boston-based spoken word ensemble -, the Individual World Poetry Slam representative for Boston Cantab and a member of the Boston Cantab National Poetry Slam team.
She has been published twice in the online magazine Muzzle and had her first collection of poetry, “A History Of Silence” published by Bicycle Comics in 2010.
These two poetry powerhouses will be joined by some of our own home-grown talent and held in the coziest bar in town offering light snacks and good wine.

Gus SimonovicGus Simonovic has lived in other countries and spoken other languages. Currently he is suspected to be in London - writing and performing his poetry in broken but delightful English. Apart from his own poetry collection, his poetry has been published in a few magazines and anthologies. Gus has been performing his poetry around the world. He is a Poetry Slam winner.
With a vision to bring poetry to the widest possible audiences, Gus initiated the “Printable Reality” concept. Based on collaboration with other spoken word artists, musicians, dancers and visual artists and with a motto : “Experience Poetry Differently”.
Gus is taking two newest Printable Reality productions: "Lovers Walk - a Poetic Journey in Eight Scenes" and “iWas” to the Edinburg Fringe Festival 2011 and a tour of UK and Europe.
Gus Simonovic has been chosen by the Auckland Regional Arts Trust for the ART Venture 2010 program.
