SDGNZ launches USA showcase call for entries
The Screen Directors Guild of New Zealand (SDGNZ) has launched a Call for Entries for the 2011 Director’s Finder Series in Los Angeles.
SDGNZ in association with the Directors Guild of America (DGA) will present a New Zealand director with the opportunity to showcase their feature film in the state-of-the-art Directors Guild of America Theatre, Sunset Boulevard, Los Angeles, to an audience of American distributors and industry personnel with a view to securing a U.S. distribution deal. It will spotlight a work of fiction or documentary feature from a New Zealand director who has not secured US distribution for their film.
The SDGNZ and DGA have previously held two successful New Zealand Director’s Finder Screenings with director Toa Fraser and his film No. 2 in 2006 and Jason Stutter with Predicament in 2010.
“The cinema is a technological marvel, Predicament looked and sounded as good as it did when we mastered it. Everyone at the DGA wants your film to play its absolute best and it did”, said director Jason Stutter.
As a result of the 2010 Director’s Finder screening Jason met with a number of top agents and was happy to report that he is now signed with a top agency and is being sent cracking screenplays.
“This wouldn’t have happened without the tremendous support of the SDGNZ and DGA. It was having this event that made everything possible. I couldn’t be happier”, said Jason.
The 2011 screening will take place on the 4 November 2011 and will be followed by a Q&A and cocktail party.
Entries for the 2011 Director’s Finder screening close on the 31st August 2011. The selected director and film will be announced at the end of September 2011.
The entry form is available from the SDGNZ website:
