These Four Walls in the Fringe, Lopdell House

These Four Walls in the Auckland Fringe Festival
Hotel Titirangi in the 1930's and rich with history,

Chris O’Connor, Tahi Mapp-Borren, Nigel Gavin and Genevieve McClean are:

These Four Walls

a new theatre company that really inhabits the building.

Ladies and Gentlemen....

An Historical Show for these times, An Experimental and Avant-Garde Work suitable for the whole family, and with a particular modern style that utilizes a theatrical soundscape including aspects of improvisation!

On the 3rd 4th and 5th of March at 7.30 each night, a new theatre company will perform a play inspired by the history of Lopdell house, Titirangi.

The performance takes place on Lopdell house’s top floor, and will see the people of Lopdell’s past revisited in an evocative soundscape that plays with poetry of language and sound.

The company came together with a love of theatre poetics music and historic buildings.  Using techniques of physical theatre, sound-scapes and storytelling, they will evoke a sense of the building’s own history in one night.

The four will be joined by actors playing Cameo roles including a seven year old boy newly cast locally in Titirangi who the cast met while promoting the show.  Tessa Mitchell, & Regan Taylor  will be joining the troop also, -all with Cameo roles.

Lopdell was chosen for the company’s  inaugural show because of a family connection with Reg Nicolas who ran it as the Hotel Titirangi in the 1930’s.  This is largely an unknown period of the building’s history until now.

It’s particularly timely again as there is to be a new chapter to the building’s life, and one of the actor’s is the daughter of David Mitchell, of Mitchell and Stout: the architects responsible for the new development.

These Four Walls will be promoting their show in Titirangi village on Saturday Morning (the 19th), with

The Booth of Echoes and Remembrances,

and  also with a camera should anyone care to share a memory of the building or a ghostly experience there.
