Kiwi-made Theatrical Spoken-word Event

Prepare to be puzzled and a-maze-d as poets, musicians and dancers respond to each other asking the Big Questions; Why do we... ? Why do we pollute, kill, make cars, become fanatic over religion? Bring your shopping bag full of questions - take-away answers will be available for you in this spectacular dramatisation of poetry in sound, visuals and motion.

The performance begins with a pre-show outside the theatre where improvisational movement troupe The White Wall will engage with the audience in a human labyrinth. They will be reacting to the space, people and nature, “and that means urban nature, green nature or human nature,” says dancer Siri Embla of The White Wall. "We relate - we make connections –stories, poems, sculpture … in a moment. We breathe - we are still - we move - we keep moving. "

Inside the theatre the show kicks off with an enchanting puzzle dance by AUT dance company. Then we meet the characters. They are in bar, in a place near you, in a soon-to-come future. Under the creative direction of poet-performer Christian Jensen and supported by spoken word producers Printable Reality, seasoned and accomplished poetic performers The Literatti provide their voices. They ask and answer the BIG questions about identity, conditioning, media, honesty and wisdom.

We follow six characters who feel a strong need to escape from the control of the society:

GP Anon (Jai MacDonald)

Hir (Zanni YEAH!)

Ala (Miriam Barr)

Gnoss (Daniel Larsen)

X (Shane Hollands)

Ism (Christian Jensen)
