Comedic Challenge to Create Political Satire

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENTS

The 2011 NZ International Comedy Festival includes several Political themed shows – it must be an election year!

It’s been a great challenge for comedian and writer James Nokise to write an up to date political satire, especially when the world of NZ politics is changing day to day.

If it’s not Darren Hughes getting caught out by police, it’s Sharon Armstrong. Hone Harawira is constantly stirring the political pot, Don Brash is now the leader of ACT, Rodney Hide is dancing alone, John Key went to the wedding of the century, and flew a Defence Force Helicopter from Hamilton to go to a golf meeting in Auckland – that’s just in the past two weeks!

Not to mention international events such as Osama Bin Laden, Gaddafi and Obama v’s Donald Trump in a beautiful verbal smack down!

"At this point, if Hone joins the Act Party - and their surprise canidate for Mangere is Frank Banimairama - I'll just roll with it,” says Nokise. “Thankfully, we've got a pretty diverse cast!”

So get ready for a totally up to date, dazzling and enlightening night of political satire. Using a simple hypothesis, The No Fefe Collective aims to prove that things only get crazy in politics, mostly because we allow them to!

Come on down to BATS Theatre – it’s time to celebrate the utter ridiculousness of New Zealand politics!
