Positive Thinking Pays Off for Writer
‘Can people train themselves to think positively?’ Camborne author Wendy Betteridge says ‘yes!’
Wendy has won fourth place in the Ashton Wylie Charitable Trust Book Award with her first book It’s your Thoughts that Count – how to use your thoughts to transform your life.
Drawing on her experiences playing hockey for England, coaching sport teams to victory, being a mother and working as a training consultant, Wendy wrote this book to inspire others to become conscious of the thoughts they create moment by moment in their daily lives and turn them into empowering thoughts.
“It's a great book for anyone wanting to improve skills and confidence whether you’re a manager, a parent, a sports person or someone just feeling low,” says Wendy. “It’s a lively read – I’ve included tips for study and goal setting, ways to avoid procrastination and the pages are filled with inspiring colour photos, personal stories and quotes.”
The winners of the Ashton Wylie Awards in association with the New Zealand Society of Authors were announced in Auckland late last month with the $10,000 first prize going to Keith Hill of Auckland. The awards recognise extraordinary literary talent in the ‘mind, body and spirit’ genre with entries invited in ‘published book’ and ‘unpublished manuscript’ sections.
“I’m thrilled that my book has been acknowledged. Now I look forward to seeing others benefiting from my experience and transforming their lives,” says Wendy.
