Rainbow Warriors and Remainders - Blast! Bunny McDiarmid Executive Director Greenpeace Speaking at Exhibition Opening

GIL AND PAT HANLY – COMMEMORATING THE 25TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE BOMBING OF THE RAINBOW WARRIOR IN TWO CONCURRENT EXHIBITIONS OF PROTEST AND CELEBRATION

As reported on Radio NZ and in the media Bunny McDiarmid’s opening speech at the exhibition was very moving and heartfelt. The events of 25 years ago remain poignant and compelling to Greenpeace and the public at large. Kind thanks to Tania Davidson for NZ Sign interpretation of Bunny’s speech for the art museum.

Praise from national institutions and individuals is pouring in for the exhibition.

NZ Eventfinder is currently listing the two concurrent exhibitions in ‘favourites’ for visitation on their homepage this week.

The Whangarei Art Museum opened in June 1996 in an historical arts and crafts building in beautiful Cafler Park adjacent to the cultural amenities of Forum North Theatre and the conservatory and Fernery. The museum is the public gallery of the district and the only public gallery in Northland.

The art museum is the permanent home of the city art collection which embraces both heritage and contemporary art work. The art museum is also the venue for internally curated and national touring exhibitions - designed to showcase the full diversity of creative art practice in New Zealand and Northland.
