Residency
The Rijksakademie in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, is an international working and meeting place for artists. It has some fifty studios for artists in residence, of which around half become available each year.
From the 800 to one thousand applications sent in, some twenty-five new artists are invited for a residency.
Artists are initially admitted for a residency of one calendar year from January through December.
Residents pursue all major contemporary art disciplines and techniques: painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, sculpture, video, film, sound and computer art. The relation of contemporary art with other disciplines such as architecture and public space, theatre, new media, music, dance, literature and film is also highlighted.
