Overview
Graduates will be able to:
- Compose a publishable piece of writing in the language of their choice (English or Te Reo Mäori) and in a genre of their choice
- Demonstrate a high level of editing skills\
- Apply research skills in a variety of ways using a range of resources including books, internet and human and other networks
- Prepare and present manuscripts to an acceptable industry standard using a word-processing programme
- Use database and spreadsheet programmes at a basic level
- Identify basic business skills for management as a self-employed writer
- Have empathy for and awareness of bicultural issues.

Northland Polytechnic Diploma in Applied Writing (Level 5) or similar Level 5 certificate or diploma.
