Corban Estate Arts Centre Summer School
The Corban Estate Arts Centre’s annual Summer School has been making a name for itself by offering an inspiring week-long arts programme, set in the grounds and studios of the historic Corban Winery in Henderson, Waitakere.
The 2010 Summer School will offer an exciting line up of classes led by well known contemporary New Zealand artists and arts practitioners. There are eight classes to choose from; Painting with Leila Ataya, Glass Casting with Kate Rutecki, Theatre with Beth Kayes, Pottery with Graham Ambrose, Printmaking with Shelley Ryde, Mask Making with Donna Demente, Bronze Casting with David Reid and Tivaevae with Mary Ama.
A new addition to the tutor list is talented glass artist Kate Rutecki. Recently arrived from New York, Kate brings with her a wealth of knowledge on the different glass casting techniques and materials. Kate has taught at the Pratt Fine Arts Centre, Hastings College, and the Corning Museum of Glass in New York. She was recently shown at the Ebeltoft Museum and her work is currently on exhibit at the New Orleans Museum of Art. In her class, students will design and make a cast glass art work. They will also visit her studio in Newton where they will have the opportunity to discuss how they can continue on working with glass.
The Corban Estate Arts Centre Summer School provides students with a full week of immersion in the arts, a creative and inspiring way to start the year.
