Drum Talk Workshop
As part of the New Zealand Music month, Yaw Boateng is running a 'drum talk workshop' in Whangarei to share the beautiful rhythms and movements from West Africa (Ghana).
Yaw Boateng is the leader of zoh zoh, an 8 piece afro beat jazz/reggae band based in Auckland. He comes from a royal family based in Ghana where music was an integral part of everyday life.
The workshop will cover hand drumming, dance-drumming, history of West African music and the spiritual impact of drumming in everyday life.
All musical instruments will be provided, but students can bring their own drums. The cost is only $20 per adult.
