Calling Auckland teens for time capsule

Auckland’s Q Theatre is giving teenagers who have a passion for any aspect of performing arts the opportunity to work with talented professional performers and leave their imprint in the new theatre as it is being built.

On Saturday the 19th of June, Q Theatre will invite 30 Auckland based teens from all those who apply to impart their experiences, hopes, messages or stories in a time capsule that celebrates the important parts they have to play in our community. The Part We Play time capsule will then be imbedded within the walls of the theatre during construction.

As part of the experience the teens will also spend the day in a free devising workshop run by talented performers from youth-focussed Massive Theatre Company. The workshop will encourage them to draw on their own lives and stories. The youths will also connect with experienced professional practitioners and be taken onto the construction site of the theatre during its foundation-laying phase.

This event will mark the beginning of a future where young artists will be offered ongoing opportunities to connect and grow through the performing arts with Q Theatre.

In ten years Q Theatre will invite the teens to reopen their capsule and see how they and the new theatre have developed.

How to Apply:

Any student from year 11-13 in the Greater Auckland area that is involved in some way in the performing arts and available all day on Saturday 19th of June is eligible.

Simply download then fill out the attached form and return it to Q Theatre no later than 5pm 28th May 2010

Q will offer to help with transport arrangements for those who do not have the facility to travel into Auckland’s CBD.

Students will be randomly selected, and will be notified by Wednesday 9th June
