Lost a client - don't panic
Your nana probably told you not to put all your eggs in one basket. When it comes to your creative enterprise nothing could be truer. Drop the basket and you’re toast. If your income comes from one or a couple of major sources then you are vulnerable.
In this month’s Generator Rob Garrett talks about what to do if you lose a major client or source of income. Better yet he talks about building future clients or income streams.
He starts with some basic ways to reduce costs, find more money and secure future business. He says, ‘if you do not control the basket, you can’t control the eggs. You never control the basket. Therefore you must create other baskets; and the more baskets, the better.’ So get weaving.
If you’ve lost a major client or income stream, understand why and have a good hard look at what you do. Then the exercises will help you look at where you spend your money and how you might reduce that and also look at what you offer to whom and at what price. Learn from these and you can work on your business as well as in your business.
