In the latest Cultural Storytellers series on The Big Idea, Renee Liang talks to Nicola Kawana - an actor, producer, mother and the inaugural director of Ngati, a new Maori theatre company based in Auckland.

“When we recognise ourselves, our families, our communities and our history on stage we are instantly more engaged. In my experience Maori theatre has been well received by broad New Zealand audiences because these stories are from the land which we all share,” says Kawana.

Sets and The City: James Hadley talks about Spare Tyre, a leading community theatre company ‘without prejudice' in London.

ScreenTalk: Watch the interview with musician, artist, writer and director Greg Page.  Page began his film career in Hamilton making music videos for local bands. Since then he has written and directed several short films, including claymations Decaff and The New Zealand Centenary of Cinema.

Win tickets to Eugene Onegin! Ask choreographer Timothy Gordon a question about his role in the NBR New Zealand Opera production, to go into the draw to win opening night tickets in Auckland.
