Arts laureate Briar Grace-Smith has written for the page, stage and screen and now her first feature film, The Strength of Water, is on the big screen nationwide.

Grace-Smith says she enjoys the collaborative nature of writing for theatre and film. "I like un-wrapping the gifts that others bring to the table: the director, the actors, set design, costume – when that happens it can be like Christmas."

Win tickets! Ask writer Briar Grace-Smith a question about The Strength of Water, and go into the draw to win a double pass to see the film.

Arts in the Super City: Auckland’s arts community turned out in force on Tuesday night for a meeting about how the arts are being considered in the Auckland Transition Authority (ATA) planning work for the new regional Super City. Read the story and have your say.

Mark Amery: Visual Arts - Art doesn’t capture a moment in time, like a snapshot or a document. It’s about the fluidity of time, the sensations surrounding the memory of moments; the sense of life flowing from the past through the present and into the future.

Time runs through Gray Nicol’s installation at the Film Archive both in the strong meditation the work offers, but also in the life of the artist himself.  At the Film Archive in Wellington until September 5.
