Kung Fu Panda co-director John Stevenson has answered The Big Idea community questions about creating digital connections, the importance of emotional connections, re-writes and storyboarding, and coming up with new ideas.

“It doesn't matter what medium you are working in - live action, traditional or computer generated animation - it is all about storytelling. You know when it is working, and you sure as hell know when it isn't. The only way I know to stay on the path and not lose your way is to have a simple theme that you believe in passionately.”

Stevenson is one of the keynote speakers at AnimfxNZ in Wellington.

The Vintner's Luck: Director Niki Caro has also answered community questions about her first impressions of Elizabeth Knox’s book, the adaptation and scripting process, the film’s score and reviews.

A year ago NZ On Screen launched its online collection of New Zealand television and films with classics like Gloss, Spot On, Billy T and Patu!

Project Director Brenda Leeuwenberg talks about how the NZ On Air funded website started, securing and digitising iconic NZ titles, and highlights from its first year online.

ScreenTalk: Courtesy of NZ On Screen, we have a video interview with Ilona Rodgers, who has starred in a huge array of theatre, film and TV roles - including Maxine Redfern in Gloss.

Biting the Big Apple: With a self-professed love of waste, Auckland artist Brydee Rood took her work to a New York festival which questions our culture of consumption. Ila Couch talks to Rood about her impressions of a city where even the smallest purchase comes with a plastic bag.

Win tickets! Vote on our poll about foreign films and you could win a double movie pass to the German Film Festival, Novemberkinder. We have five double-passes to give away.
