Best of the Web (+video)
In her final file for The Big Idea, Helen Baxter highlights her top twenty Web tools and how digital culture has grown since The MsBehaviour Files started at the beginning of the ‘Web 2.0’ wave.
“There has been a seismic shift in creative tools and ways of doing business.”

I started writing the MsBehaviour Files at the beginning of the Web 2.0 wave, and I'm glad that we are back to calling it the Web again. From the desk-top to the web-top, the hard-drive to the Cloud, there has been a seismic shift in creative tools and ways of doing business.
From office based people and machines to online networks, mobile delivery and home studios across the globe. I have been writing, broadcasting and podcasting about tools for creative entrepreneurs from a studio on the edge of the Waitakere ranges. The Big Idea's Editor lives in the bush by the sea in Leigh and many members of the Big Idea's community have views the world would envy.
There has never been a better time to be a Kiwi creative making art from New Zealand by using digital tools and connecting to online marketplaces and networks both locally and internationally.
So here is a round up of the top twenty tools we use at Mohawk Media for managing work, life and play to round up the MsBehaviour Files at the Big Idea.
Thanks for reading, listening and watching on the Radio Wammo show on Kiwi FM.

Many thanks Helen for The MsBehaviour Files, working with The Big Idea during the past three years and helping us move into ‘Web 2.0’ land. Yes I agree, it is now just the Web.
I’ve personally enjoyed your files and know you have helped the community by demystifying new and emerging digital and web tools in a fun and informative way.
All the best for your future path in Welly. (P.S thanks for outing me in Leigh ;)

Kia ora Helen . . . A huge thanks from me too. At The Big Idea, we've all hugely benefited from your tremendous knowledge and unique insights about web culture, online community building, internet business models, the best digital tools, the long-tail and much, much more. The brilliance of your ideas, the incredible ability you have to see the future now and your engaging generosity of spirit are all deeply appreciated and we thank you warmly for sharing all of that and more with us.
On a more personal note, I could not have had a more generous and insightful mentor over the past three years. Through our regular get-togethers, you have extended and deepened my confidence, capabilities and connections - thank YOU . . .
All the very best Helen and look forward to catching up with you and Chelfyn in Wellington . . .

Helen - I must also express my heartfelt thanks for your knowledge and insight about things 'geeky' and your boundless energy in the online space. Your insights and understanding have helped me spread knowledge about on-line tools to many different members of our community. For this and your generosity of spirit - thank you...

My thanks to the Big Idea community and crew for letting me cover one of the most exciting times in the development of the web and digital media.
It's been fun!

Thanks for sharing this idea. A few years ago an edit suite would be a room full of people, high end hardware and expensive software. These have been replaced by desktop and now online editing tools that run through a web browser. Probably the best editor I have tested so far is Sumopaint which Chelfyn rates as excellent. Sumo Paint is packed with design features as well as running a Sumo Paint Community, that allows artists to showcase work and vote for their favorites. Arizona Web Design
