Topp Twins film selected for Toronto (+trailer)
Following the film’s recent successful season at the NZ box office, The Topp Twins: Untouchable Girls is going international. The film has been invited to the Toronto International Film Festival in September.
In selecting the film, the Festival’s senior programmer Jane Schoettle described it as ‘Pure fun. Pure love.'
Lynda and Jools Topp will join director Leanne Pooley and producer Arani Cuthbert at the Festival in September 2009.
The Topp Twins: Untouchable Girls is a film that takes a deeply intimate look at New Zealand’s most beloved twins and is both hilarious and touching. The Topp Twins are well known as comedy characters, as activists and as entertainers, but the personal story of Jools and Lynda Topp has never been told. This biopic is a celebration of the lives and work of the twins, as well as a metaphor for how far New Zealand has come as a nation.
The Topp Twins: Untouchable Girls was produced by Arani Cuthbert of Diva Productions, and was financed by the NZ Film Commission, NZ On Air and Sweeney Vesty.
