Fresh Shorts selected

The NZ Film Commission is pleased to announce the 16 low budget short films selected in the inaugural Fresh Shorts scheme.

The NZFC has offered eight grants of $10,000 and eight grants of $30,000 to shoot and complete low budget short films with durations between 4-25 minutes.

The 16 films were selected by a panel of both industry and NZFC staff consisting of: Ainsley Gardiner, Katie Wolfe, Leo Woodhead, Paul Swadel (NZFC Development Executive) and Juliette Veber (NZFC Short Film Manager).  

Fresh Shorts received 229 applications across both levels.

“The quality of the applications we received was extremely high and we were really impressed with the calibre of filmmakers applying to the fund,” said Juliette Veber, NZFC Short Film Manager.  

The eight short films that have been green lit at the $30,000 budget level are:

Runaways –writer/ director: Jordan Dodson, producer: Alix Whittaker

Ten Thousand Days
– writer/director: Michael Duignan, producer: Nik Beachman

Uphill – writer/director: Jackie Van Beek, producer: Aaron Watson
