Wellington shows off its world class film credentials

New Zealand’s most experienced regional film office, Film Wellington, turns 15 this year and like any self-respecting teenager this internationally acclaimed organisation has updated its look with a superior new website.

Oscar winning director Guillermo del Toro once said of Wellington - “It’s Hollywood the way God intended it.” The region’s reputation for talent, innovation and film friendly service is unsurpassed and Film Wellington’s new website is a testament to that.

The website (www.filmwellington.com) is a one stop shop for support whether clients are making movies, commercials or TV shows. The website ensures that anything is possible including access to a range of New Zealand’s best film locations, and the clincher?  The service is free.

From production houses in Los Angeles and London to international film festivals in France and Italy, Wellington is known for its booming film industry and the Film Wellington website is a pivotal tool in attracting more film makers to our shores.  Functions such as a comprehensive industry database giving interested parties information about the best of Wellington talent have been improved and will help ensure that screen production in Wellington is hassle free.

As film makers and technicians are, by their very nature, entrepreneurial creatives, the website also features business growth opportunities and resources available to screen industry professionals and features a number of case studies of businesses who have taken their skills and knowledge and turned them into an income stream that doesn’t rely solely on what can be a fickle industry.

With Wellington’s screen and digital sector earning revenue of NZ$500 million annually and Grow Wellington, the regional economic development agency, aiming to double earnings by 2025, the new and improved website is a prominent tool in ensuring the region continues to be the location of choice in the industry.
