Move Me: Aviva
Arts Laureate Shona McCullagh's digital interactive art work features in an exhibition, Move Me, curated by Steven Ball at Webb's Gallery until May 2.
Aviva is a real-time art work that is a digital mirror of transformation. It is a kinaesthetic listening post, a framed work that sees the viewer and responds with beautiful visuals and sound, inspired and driven by its audience. The work is designed to inspire, invite and reward participation from its audience, of all ages.
Move Me explores the many ways in which artists approach making artworks in moving image.
The exhibition includes a selection of New Zealand’s most dynamic artists working in moving image including James Charlton, Judy Darragh, Lonnie Hutchinson, Leilani Kake, Shigeyuki Kihara, Janet Lilo, Ryuzo Nishida, Reuben Paterson, Nova Paul, James Pinker, Lisa Reihana and Tracey Tawhiao.

- Shona McCullagh
Shona is well known in NZ as a highly accomplished dancer, choreographer, director and filmmaker with a strong collaborative work history. She has a great love of working with actors and directors, having choreographed for Peter Jackson, Andrew Adamson, Colin McColl, Lucy Lawless, Naomi Watts, Jamie Bell, Sean Astin and Kevin Smith. Alongside her Agency work, Shona regularly creates work for theatre, film and live events, identifying strongly with artists of all genres. Always a passionate advocate for performers’ rights, Shona was the Equity representative in Limbs Dance Company and established the Agency to assist with the protection and promotion of some of the country’s most talented performers. She can frequently be heard asking the question to Human Agency performers “Where do you want to be in five years time?” and being slightly obsessive about correct spelling and professionalism.
