Reel Brazil series at the Film Archive
The winter is just about to get a bit warmer - and a lot more groovier!
In anticipation of the Reel Brazil Film Festival in November this year, the Film Archive, Arariboia Cine (Brazil) and the Reel Brazil team have put together a series of short films and documentaries that celebrate Brazilian Rhythms. 99.9% of the films have never been shown in New Zealand and the majority has never even left Brazil.
Come to the Film Archive just before the opening screening on Wednesday, 26th August for some live drumming with WELLINGTON BATUCADA and moviegoers can sample some Brazilian cocktails, courtesy of Cachaça 51.
To close the season, on Saturday 29th of August, we will be doing a Fundraiser Screening for Wellington Batucada, followed by a big party at the Southern Cross Bar & Restaurant, to the percussive sounds of the Wellington band, BRAZEALAND.
Plus: $5 "caipirinhas" after-movie special for film goers: keep your ticket stub and head to the Southern Cross after your film, to get one $5 discounted “caipirinha” cocktail drink, by simply presenting your ticket stub (valid for any time during the Reel Brazil series).
This is just a taster of what we have planned for November. We hope you enjoy it!
