Castaway Christmas at Capital E
This Christmas Santa and his elves have been cast-away on an enchanted pacific island! He’ll be settled in from 17 - 24 December to welcome children of all ages, chat about holiday plans and special festive wishes, and introduce you to Mrs. Claus and his friends the elves.
Children can visit Father Christmas in a tropical grotto, with a beautiful fale (hut) big enough for the whole family.
Alongside Santa, Mrs. Claus will weave some merry magic of her own with a special Christmas story by acclaimed storyteller Moira Wairama. Performed by two of Wellington’s best storytellers, Mrs. Claus will tell visitors how she, Santa, and the elves were stranded on the island by Santa’s reindeer who flew back to the North Pole! This original tale of adventure is full of interactive moments.
Father Christmas’s mischievous Elves will make time on the island especially fun. Children can try a coconut relay obstacle course or have a go at the elves’ island fishing game. Plus the whole family can gather under the gazebos with friendly elves to make a tropical Christmas lei to take home!
Be part of the new series of Giggles!
Children who visit Father Christmas between 21-23 December will also have an opportunity to catch the cast of TVNZ 6 kids show Giggles filming their next series, right next door to Santa’s island grotto. Children will be show off their funniest face or silliest dance and they might end up on the show!
“Capital E exists to create quality creative experiences for young New Zealanders through creative technology, live performance and events,” says Capital E Director, Stuart Grant. “It’s great to have Giggles continue to be locally produced and we’re thrilled to see the investment in a second series.”
Giggles is a collaboration between Capital E, Gibson Group and TVNZ. The show screens on TVNZ 6’s Kidzone, daily viewing specifically for kiwi children from 6am – 6pm. Giggles is designed to enrich learning and make children laugh out loud. Each episode is a combination of hilarious sketches, where a mix of costumed performers, puppets and pre-schoolers co-exist in a bright and exciting virtual world.
Gibson Group Producer, Alex Clark enthuses, “Giggles has proved hugely popular with the pre-school age group since its launch in late June this year on TVNZ 6, so Gibson Group are delighted to have been commissioned to produce a second series. Coinciding the filming with Capital E’s Castaway Christmas is a fantastic opportunity to have Wellington children interact live with the show. “
Capital E is famous for its fun and interactive Christmas celebrations. Make sure you write your Christmas list and book early to visit Santa’s fale at Capital E.
