Ecology.Design.Synergy
The exhibition 'Ecology.Design.Synergy' discusses not only the issue of sustainable building and intelligent architecture but also reflects how human beings perceive their environment through their senses.
Its intent is to affect visitors not only intellectually, but emotionally in order to emphasise that a sensitive and responsible approach to the built environment is not only a matter for experts, but for each individual person.
Visitors can explore the exhibition in five themes: light, sound, air, temperature and material. On the basis of these themes a number of architectural projects are presented, highlighting their influence on both human beings and buildings.
The central element of the exhibition is a large “light table” that displays architectural and technological solutions and their relating to the elemental sensory perception of human being.
The exhibition presents both common and company-specific projects of Behnisch Architekten and TransSolra climate Engineering.
International projects they have worked on such as RiverParc Development in Pittsburgh, Senscity Paradise Universe in Las Vegas and Deutsches Meeresmuseum “Ozeaneum” in Stralsund are shown through models, drawings, photos and films. Both companies are linked by a long-term partnership, working on numerous projects that deal with sustainable and responsible architecture. Their working relationship is based on the confidence that high-quality built environments can be realised with a decreased use of natural resources.
The exhibition is curated by Frank Ockert,in cooperation with the Institute for Foreign Cultural Relations (“Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen”, ifa) and Galerie Aedes, Berlin.
Presented by the Goethe-Institut in cooperation with the School of Architecture and Planning of the University of Auckland.
