*** PAPERCUT ***

James Harcourt and Nicole Freeman present PAPERCUT, the result of many days and nights.. and weeks and months... cutting paper.

Papercut is the culmination of two distinct, yet parallel processes that developed into ritualistic meditations beneath their.. snippety scissors.

James listened and heard the prayers of shuffling stereotype... symbols echoing through time to lay their silhouettes long against his bedroom ceiling.
221 characters cut from paper.. his scissors follow their line as they link hands like prayer flags and hang themselves in the space above him.

And whilst James released his characters from their paper frame into the acknowledged parameters of their character.....

Nicole's characters are released from their captured time and location, to shake their shoulders and resettle themselves within their own frame.
Her pieces are a homage to the mercurial nature of memory and perception.. idols to alternate visions of reality.

It is an exhibition of what IS.. becoming what it should be, what it wants to be.. without force but with release."

Exhibition runs Tues May 4th - Sun May 9th
